iPhone screen not working? Is your iPhone screen stuck? Has it stopped responding to taps or swipes? Many iPhone users have complained about their phone’s touch screen not working. The phone freezes randomly and won’t respond to any taps or swipes, leaving it completely unusable. Here are some solutions for you to try and fix your unresponsive iPhone screen. Make sure to test the device after trying each step.
Note: These solutions are not intended for the iPhone X.
Step 1: Restart Your iPhone
A lot of the time, small bugs in the system can cause the screen to become unresponsive. This can be a shock, because, “why isn’t my expensive phone screen working?!” But a simple reboot usually fixes any problems. To reboot your iPhone, hold down the Sleep/Wake button and Home buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears.
Step 2: Adjust Display Settings
As mentioned earlier, small bugs in the system can cause screen problems. Some users have solved their screen problems by reducing the screen brightness or by using auto-brightness.
Step 3: Free Up Memory And Space
If your iPhone is sluggish or unresponsive, it could be caused by the RAM (memory) being overused. Insufficient memory can cause any computing device to slow down. To free up memory, manually close all the apps that you are running on your iPhone. Uninstall any apps that you rarely use – and delete old pictures and videos to free up space.
Step 4: Remove iPhone Screen Protector
If you’re using an iPhone screen protector, this may be the cause of your iPhone’s screen being unresponsive. Try removing the screen protector – hopefully, this solves your problem.
Step 5: Factory Reset
A factory reset should be your last resort. If nothing else has worked, this is the last hurrah move you can try. But it’s important to remember that a factory reset will wipe all the data from your iPhone. That means settings, pictures, videos, apps and everything else will be deleted – leaving your iPhone in factory default settings. Before doing a factory reset, back up all your data!
Step 6: Replace The Screen
Problems like unresponsive touchscreens, flickering or frozen screens could be due to an LCD screen that does not work anymore. This will require replacing the screen entirely. You could go to the Apple store to get the screen replaced, but you might end up on a waiting list… many weeks long. You could also go to your local repair shop to replace the screen but this can cost you a lot of money for an easy job. The best option is to replace the screen yourself.
